Meet Dr. Richard Benninger, D.D.S.

Dr. Richard M. Benninger was born and raised in Brunswick, Ohio. He is a graduate of St. Ignatius High School. In 1980, he earned his Bachelor of Science degree from Washington University. He then continued his training, earning his D.D.S. from Case Western Reserve University School of Dentistry. After completing dental school, he was accepted into the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery residency at the University of Kentucky in 1984. During his residency, he served as chief resident from 1986 to 1987. At the University of Kentucky, Dr. Benninger received extensive training in all aspects of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.

Continually adding to his training, Dr. Benninger is board certified by the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, the highest level of achievement that an oral surgeon can obtain. He is also board certified by the National Dental Board of Anesthesiology and the American Board of Oral Implantology. Dr. Benninger regularly attends continuing education around the country to enhance his training in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. He has lectured on a number of topics in the specialty and regularly sponsors and participates in local continuing education. His interests include dental implants, anesthesia, bone grafting (including onlay and sinus grafting) and dentoalveolar surgery.

Dr. Benninger is a member of a number of local and national organizations including the Medina County Dental Society, Medina County Medical Society, Ohio Dental Association, American Dental Association, Great Lakes Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, American Academy of Implant Dentistry, Academy of Osseointegration, American Dental Society of Anesthesiologists, Ohio Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, International Congress of Oral Implantologists, and the Omicron Kappa Upsilon Dental Honor Society. He holds active staff privileges at Medina Hospital and Wadsworth-Rittman Hospital.

An active family man, Dr. Benninger and his wife Meg have six children. They have lived in Medina since 1987. Dr. Benninger’s hobbies include hunting, fishing, camping, ballroom dancing, coaching little league football, and following the Cleveland Browns, Indians, and Cavaliers.
