Meet Dr. Brian Schmidt, D.M.D., M.S.

Dr. Brian P. Schmidt was born and raised in McDonald, Ohio. He attended Youngstown State University, where he earned Bachelors and Masters degrees in Biology. Dr. Schmidt was then accepted into Nova Southeastern University College of Dental Medicine in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida where he graduated first in his class with a D.M.D. in 2005. He continued his training, entering the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery residency at MetroHealth Medical Center and the Cleveland Clinic in 2005. He served as chief resident from 2008-2009. Dr. Schmidt received extensive training in the treatment of traumatic injuries, dentofacial deformities, oral pathology, reconstructive surgery, anesthesia, dentoalveolar surgery, bone grafting, and dental implant surgery.

After completing his residency, he joined the practice of Dr. Benninger and Dr. Schween.  He has continued his advanced training by attending continuing education courses locally and nationally. Dr. Schmidt has a special interest in anesthesia, dentoalveolar surgery, dental implants, bone grafting (including onlay and sinus grafting), soft tissue grafting, and oral pathology.

Dr. Schmidt is a diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, the highest achievement that an oral surgeon can obtain. He is a fellow of the American Association of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons and the Pierre Fauchard Academy. He is also a member of the Omicron Kappa Upsilon Dental Honor Society, American Dental Association, Ohio Dental Association, Medina County Dental Society, International Congress of Oral Implantologists, American Academy of Implant Dentistry, American Dental Society of Anesthesiology, and the Ohio Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons. He holds active staff privileges at Medina Hospital and Wadsworth-Rittman Hospital.

Dr. Schmidt enjoys spending time with his wife and family. His hobbies include exercising, golfing, and cheering on the Cavs, Browns, and Indians.
